Optimized Volt/VAR Control for Inverter-Interfaced Distributed Energy Resources in Compliance with IEEE 1547 Standards
Sustainable Energy Control and Optimization | Volume 1, Issue 1: 35-42, 2025 | DOI: 10.62762/SECO.2025.754083
Abstract
The increasing integration of distributed energy resources (DERs), such as photovoltaic(PV) systems and battery storage, into distribution networks necessitates advanced inverter controls to maintain stable grid operations. IEEE Standard 1547 permits smart inverter functionalities, including Volt/VAR control, enabling DERs to autonomously manage voltage fluctuations caused by varying load and generation conditions. However, configuring these Volt/VAR settings optimally is challenging, as default parameters provided by standards may not ensure optimal performance or dynamic stability. This paper proposes a customized, per-node Volt/VAR control optimization framework for single-phase distribut... More >

Numerical Investigation of the Aerodynamic Effects of Vortex Generators and Spoilers on Audi R8 Using ANSYS Fluent
Sustainable Energy Control and Optimization | Volume 1, Issue 1: 20-34, 2025 | DOI: 10.62762/SECO.2025.278304
Abstract
Aerodynamics principles play a fundamental role in both energy generation and consumption. Automobile aerodynamics contribute to its overall performance as well as to its efficiency. The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of some of the available literature on spoilers and vortex generators (VGs). The paper then discusses the impact of the different types of air spoilers and VGs on the Audi R8 2014 vehicle using ANSYS Fluent 19.2. The vehicle has been modified to accommodate simulation using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The simulation process is briefly described. There have been various spoilers proposed, including pedestal spoilers, trunk spoilers, and wavy spoilers. Ad... More >

Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) and Linear Quadratic Tracking (LQT) Circuits on DC Motor BN12 Control
Sustainable Energy Control and Optimization | Volume 1, Issue 1: 10-19, 2025 | DOI: 10.62762/SECO.2025.439281
Abstract
In the modern era, the development of renewable energy technology has rapidly advanced, and one key approach to improving technology is through system optimization. System optimization involves solving problems to achieve the best possible conditions, resulting in maximum or minimum values for system performance. In the context of DC motors, optimization aims to reduce the initial peak in motor current when the motor is started, ensuring smoother and more efficient operation. Various optimization techniques can be employed, with two commonly used circuits being the Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) and the Linear Quadratic Tracking (LQT). Both methods are designed to improve system performanc... More >

Analysis of Capacitor Implementation and Rectifier Circuit Impact on the Reciprocating Load of A Single-Phase AC Generator
Sustainable Energy Control and Optimization | Volume 1, Issue 1: 1-9, 2025 | DOI: 10.62762/SECO.2025.690620
Abstract
Rectifier circuits have long played a crucial role in electronic technology, yet there remains significant potential for optimizing their performance to enhance real-world applications. The primary function of a rectifier circuit is to convert alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC). Additionally, generators are widely studied components in power electronics research due to their fundamental role in energy conversion. A single-phase AC generator consists of a stator that generates electric current, a rotor that produces a magnetic field, and an air gap between them. This configuration enables the conversion of mechanical energy into electrical energy, resulting in an alternating vo... More >
